Even teeth imbalances can result in an aching back

The jaw is connected to the spine via the muscles and tendons. Healthy teeth are pressing vertically against each other when biting. This leads to the jaw being strained evenly, because every tooth has a direct contact to its opposing tooth. Hence the contact between the teeth cannot function optimally, when the teeth are misaligned, a tooth is missing or a tooth replacement does not fit well. This imbalance can expand throughout the body in the form of muscle chains and “escape reactions”.

Oftentimes multiple therapeutic approaches are necessary, because the CMD deals with the interaction of various body regions. Thus, the interdisciplinary combination of orthopaedics, dentistry, orthodontia, physiotherapy and other fields is very important.
